Virgin goddess of the hunt, daughter of Leto — 'mistress of women' under the cult-title Aethopia in the Arista dedication, and the swearer of the vow 'I shall be a maiden always' (44A).

A cult-title of Artemis, 'Leto's daughter,' to whom the speaking statue is dedicated; the epigram makes the goddess 'mistress of women,' guardian of the female line that the closing prayer asks her to glorify.
